Packers restructure Aaron Jones’ contract to make $3.08M in cap space

USA Today

The Green Bay Packers restructured running back Aaron Jones’ contract creating the team $3.08 million in cap space.

Jones agreed to convert $3.85 million of his 2022 compensation into a signing bonus and he added two void years to his contract in 2025 and 2026.

Ultimately, it spreads Jones’ contract into the future instead of up front money.

The Packers are doing anything they can to retain Aaron Rodgers at this point, as he’s potentially carrying a cap hit of $46,664,157 for the 2022 season.

Green Bay has cleared $14 million in cap space over the past few days and more financial driven moves are likely to come in the near future.
