The Houston Texans released running back Duke Johnson, saving about $5 million in cap space.
Johnson was solid in his two years played in Houston, totaling 1,304 yards from scrimmage with seven touchdowns.
Last season Johnson was forced to share backfield duties with David Johnson, which he’s ultimately dealt with throughout his career.
Houston is entering a rebuild season, and clearly they feel like there’s no room for the 27-year-old.
However, Johnson will most like receive calls for teams in need for an experienced multi-use runner out of the backfield for next season.
