According to the New York Post, 12 teams have “checked in” with the Nationals for Juan Soto including the Yankees, Mets, and Cardinals.

The Post reported that there isn’t an early sense that either New York franchise is at the forefront of trade talks, and that St. Louis is viewed as the early front-runner to land Soto because of their strong minor league system.

With the deadline approaching next Tuesday, it seems like Washington will only take a huge return for the 23-year-old slugger.

Ever since Soto declined a $440 million contract extension with the Nationals, the ball club has been looking for options to move on from Soto as fast as possible.

He’s currently playing through a one-year, $17.1 million contract that he signed with Washington back in March that avioded arbitration.

We’ll see which franchises package up the best potential deals to land Soto before the August 2 deadline.
