According to the New York Post, Mets ace Max Scherzer has suffered an oblique injury and will likely be placed on the injury list.
Scherzer reportedly suffered the injury during his start on Wednesday night against the St. Louis Cardinals, and an IL stint sounds like it’s coming for the 37-year-old.
Scherzer has of course been on a hot start to 2022, posting a 5-1 record with a 2.54 ERA and 59 strikeouts across 49.2 innings pitched.
No official timetable has been announced just yet, but Scherzer could be facing a lengthy timetable for a return.
UPDATE 2:54 PM ET
Max Scherzer is expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks with his oblique injury.
