Bucs sign Lavonte David to $25M contract

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed linebacker Lavonte David to a two-year, $25 million contract extension.

The deal includes $20 million guaranteed and three voidable years which keep his cap figures at $3.5 million annually.

David was rated Pro Football Focus’ number one overall coverage linebacker last season, and he certainly helped contain Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense in the Super Bowl.

The 31-year-old totaled 117 tackles last season with 12 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception, six passes defended, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

Tampa Bay are certainly looking to repeat as champions, and re-signing David assures them an experienced leader on defense.
