Pau Gasol signs with Barcelona

Former two-time NBA champion and six-time All-Star Pau Gasol has announced that he’s signed with FC Barcelona.

Gasol was most recently a member of the San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks in the 2018-19 season, where he played a total of 30 games.

The 40-year-old began his professional career with Barcelona back in 1998, and was first drafted to the NBA in 2001 by the Atlanta Hawks.

Gasol joins former NBA player J.J. Barea as another basketball player to return to Spain, where he’ll also hope to play for the Spanish international team.

The Barcelona native also has a FIBA World Cup title, three EuroBasket titles, two Olympic silver medals, and one bronze medal under his belt.

He’s mostly remembered for his back-to-back NBA title runs alongside teammate Kobe Bryant in 2009 and 2010.

Gasol is returning to Barcelona that is currently first in the EuroLeague, and second in the Spanish League.
