After all the offseason drama, the San Francisco 49ers signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a one-year extension.

According to the NFL Netowk, Garoppolo is now the league’s highest-paid backup.

Everyone expected the 30-year-old QB to be moved this offseason, so it’s strange that the Niners ultimately extended him to a deal.

With this news, it sounds like San Francisco may not be fully confident in now starting quarterback Trey Lance.

It’ll be an ongoing saga with the 49ers as long as Garoppolo remains on the sidelines.
