Chris Sale underwent season-ending right wrist surgery on Monday after fracturing it last Saturday in a bicycle accident.

Sale’s appeared in just two games for the Red Sox this season, and he was expected to return after undergoing surgery on his pinky last month.

It’s been a nightmare three seasons with multiple injuries for the 33-year-old, as he’s made just 11 starts over that timespan.

However, Sale’s contract is earning him $30 million for the 2022 season from his $145 million deal he signed with Boston back in 2019.

The Red Sox confirmed the news on Twitter.
