The Detroit Lions are expected to prioritize a contract extension for tight end T.J. Hockenson before the start of the 2022 season.
Detroit exercised Hockenson’s fifth-year option in April after both sides couldn’t reach a long-term deal.
The 25-year-old is owed $6.5 million this upcoming season and would earn $9.4 million under the 2023 option if he isn’t extended.
Hockenson has appeared in 40 career games with the Lions, catching 160 receptions for 1,673 yards and 12 touchdowns.
