According to a report from EuroHoops, two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic will play for the Serbian national team this summer.
Jokic will join the national team “as soon as possible” according to the source.
NBA players have a certain number of days during the offseason to be with the national team as soon as they’re eligible.
Along with Jokic, other NBA players are expected to play in August and early September in the second round of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers and the 2022 EuroBasket league.Â
Picking up his second MVP Award in the second-straight year, Jokic averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists in the 2021-22 season.
The 27-year-old will enter the final year of his five-year, $147,710,050 max contract in 2022-23 where he carries a salary cap hit of $33,616,770.
An extension is pretty much guaranteed from the Nuggets for Jokic after next season and beyond.
