Steelers make Minkah Fitzpatrick richest safety in NFL history

Associated Press

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Minkah Fitzpatrick to a four-year, $73,600,000 contract making him the richest safety in NFL history.

The deal comes with $36 million guaranteed and an annual salary of $18.4 million.

Fitzpatrick had reportedly been attending Steelers minicamp, but he hasn’t been participating in team drills as he worked on an extension.

The 25-year-old out of New Jersey has been a huge piece to Pittsburgh’s defense since being dealt from the team from the Dolphins in 2019.

Fitzpatrick was named First Team All-Pro and a Pro-Bowler in both 2019 and 2020 with his stellar secondary play.

He’s accumulated 13 interceptions, 36 passes defended, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and 352 total tackles in his young career.
