The Tampa Bay Rays placed shortstop Wander Franco on the 10-day injured list with a right quadricep strain.
Tampa looks like they’ve decided to give Franco some time off to rest and recover after exiting Monday’s game against the White Sox because of the ailing quad issue.
The 21-year-old reportedly felt a tug in his light leg while rounding first base and was removed for a pinch-runner.
Franco’s dealt with several quad and hamstring issues so far throughout the 2022 season, but he’s managed to avoid a trip to the injured list previously.
In 2022, Franco’s slashing .270/.305/.421 for four homers and 19 RBI across 45 games played.
