The Washington Nationals have signed right handed pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. to a minor league contract.
Edwards played for both the Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays in the 2021 season, and he gave up seven runs on 11 hits with a 6/3 K/BB ratio across 5 2/3 innings.
The 30-year-old will likely be used throughout the Nationals bullpen if eventually called up, and he could be a good piece in providing some relief.
The Nationals bullpen ranked 28th in ERA in the 2021 season at 5.08, and they also allowed 91 home runs.
