According to NFL Network, Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay is a strong candidate to be franchise tagged this offseason.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport stated “I’ll be very surprised if he’s actually available.”
Detroit is estimated to be $20 million over the cap after adding the remainder of quarterback Jared Goff’s ridiculous four-year, $134 million contract, where he’s owed $27,825,000 in 2021.
Adding Goff’s contract is making it difficult for the Lions to sign Golladay to a long-term deal, and his market value should be around $10-$12 million annually.
Golladay has a career 183 receptions for 3,068 yards and 21 touchdowns in his first four seasons in the NFL, all with Detroit.
The 27-year-old played in just five games in 2020 due to hip and hamstring injuries.
