The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired free agent forward John Tavares on a 7-year, $77 million deal. $70 million of Tavares contract comes with a signing bonus, which secures it from a buyout.
The 27-year-old spent nine seasons with the New York Islanders before signing with Toronto. He has totaled 621 career points (272 goals, 349 assists).
Tavares earned a total of $34,041,463 from contracts in his career with the Islanders.
