Chris Godwin still unclear for season opener

Speaking on a podcast Tuesday, Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin said “I don’t think any of us know that yet” when asked if he’d play in Week 1.

Godwin suffered an ACL and MCL injury back in December of 2021 that held him out of the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old continued in his interview:

“I would imagine I have the final say. It’s going to come down to feel. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter that much. I would love to be there for the entire season, but I think what’s more important is being there for the second half of the season.”

Godwin practiced without a knee brace yesterday, but it sounds like he could possibly miss some time to begin the season.

In 14 games last season, he caught 98 receptions for 1,103 yards and five touchdowns.
