Disney looking to renew TV deal with the NBA

Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that the company is interested in renewing its television deal with the NBA on Wednesday.

The major company and the NBA are currently in a 10-year contract worth approximately $24 billion, and the deal will expire after the 2024-25 season.

“We are interested in a renewal with the NBA,” said Chapek. “We will only do it if it is accretive to shareholder value.”

“A continued relationship with the NBA would be something that is really attractive to us.”

According to Deadline, rumors are that the NBA is seeking a new television deal worth a monstrous $75 billion.

The NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors concluding last season aired primetime on ABC and averaged 12.4 million viewers.

It the most watched Finals in three years and a 25% increase from the previous season.
