New York Yankees infielder Matt Carpenter has been diagnosed with a fractured left foot and has no timetable for a return.
The injury occurred when Carpenter fouled a ball off his foot during Monday’s game against the Seattle Mariners.
It’s a big blow on all sides here, especially with the 36-year-old making a stellar comeback in his first stint in New York.
Carpenter was hitting .305/.412/.727 with 15 home runs, 28 runs scored, and 37 RBI in just 47 games with the Yankees.
In his absence, Miguel Andujar has been called up Tuesday from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
