Phillies release Didi Gregorius

USA Today Sports

The Philadelphia Phillies have released shortstop Didi Gregorius after activating Jean Segura from the 60-day IL.

Interesting move out of Philadelphia, especially since they signed Gregorius to a $28 million contract in 2021.

The 32-year-old was hitting .210/.263/.304 with just one home run, 17 runs, and 19 RBI in 63 games played with the Phillies this season.

Gregorius was also reportedly struggling with his defense this season in the infield.
