According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Russell Westbrook has signed with agent Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports.

Westbrook parted ways with longtime friend and agent Thad Foucher off Wasserman after a reported dispute of the sides disagreeing with Westbrook playing out his contract with the Lakers next season.

After a disastrous season in Los Angeles last season, this move could determine what Westbrook’s wishes are for 2023.

Schwartz is a known positive choice of agent, as he negotiated Kemba Walker’s contract buyouts, most recently with the Detroit Pistons after he was dealt from the Knicks.

If Westbrook remains with the Lakers this season, he’s due to make a gigantic $47,063,478 in salary before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2023.

It’s unclear yet if we’ll see the 33-year-old suit up for the purple and gold next year, but details are sure to come throughout the remainder of the offseason.
