According to MLB.com, the San Diego Padres and pitcher Joe Musgrove have agreed to a five-year, $100 million contract extension.
Musgrove was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of this season, but San Diego locked up their ace for the future.
Since joining the Padres in 2021, the 29-year-old has posted a 19-13 record with a 2.97 ERA and 317 strikeouts across 296.2 innings pitched.
Musgrove is earning a salary of 8,625,000 this season before his newly signed extension kicks in for 2023.
