The Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud reported that Bucs coaches were “not happy” with Leonard Fournette’s weight during minicamp.Â
Stroud spoke in a recent podcast appearance:
“Coaches were not happy, and that’s an understatement, when (Fournette) didn’t participate in the OTAs, but then he shows up at the mandatory minicamp weighing damn near 260 [pounds].â€
“that’s not a good sign for a guy that you’ve just spent a three-year contract on.â€
Fournette recently signed a three-year, $21 million contract with Tampa Bay in March, which is good money for a 27-year-old back.
The Bucs also drafted third-round pick Rachaad White, who could possibly cut into Fournette’s playing time.
Heading into training camp in late July, we’ll wait to see if Fournette trims down a bit after the shock of his weight gain.
