Joey Votto remains out of the Reds starting lineup for the first half of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Pirates.
This will mark Votto’s third consecutive missed game to due back tightness, and it’s unclear whether or not he’ll be available for the second half Thursday night.
The 38-year-old has been struggling at the dish for the 2022 season, and he’s slashing .210/.332/.374 with just six home runs and 25 RBI.
Teammate Mike Moustakas is starting at first base in Votto’s place and batting sixth in the lineup for Cincinnati’s first of two games Thursday.
