John Wall picks up massive $47.4M player option

John Wall has picked up his massive $47.4 million player option for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

Wall agreed to sit out all of last season with the Rockets, and he’s played just 113 games in the last five seasons and missed the entire 2019-20 season with injuries.

Somehow, Wall trails just Steph Curry as the highest-paid player in the NBA for next season.

Wall was dealt from Washington in 2020 with draft picks for Russell Westbrook, but he signed his four-year, $171,131,520 deal in 2017 with the Wizards.

It’s expected for Houston to reach either a trade or buyout at some point, but it remains to be seen to who wants to take on the rest of his contract.

The soon to be 32-year-old last appeared in 40 games in 2020-21 with Houston, where he posted 20.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game.
