The St. Louis Cardinals placed veteran catcher Yadier Molina on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation.
It was initially reported Thursday that Molina could hit the IL, but now the move has been made official.
The 39-year-old out of Puerto Rico had apparently been dealing with nagging soreness for a while and is expected to miss multiple weeks according to NBC Sports.
Molina is expected to retire after this season, so the injury isn’t the best news on his farewell tour with the Cardinals.
Catcher Andrew Knizner is expected to be behind home plate with Molina sidelined for the near future.
