Washington Redskins rookie running back Derrius Guice has been diagnosed with a torn ACL.
This is a big blow to the Redskins running game, as Guice showed promising potential to the team’s offense. In his absence, the Skins could turn to Samaje Perine for early-down carries and Chris Thompson in passing downs. Rob Kelley could also be in the mix for short-yardage and goal-line situations.
Guice ran for 3,074 yards and 29 touchdowns in three seasons at LSU. The 21-year-old is due to make $825,806 from his rookie contract this season.
