The Cleveland Browns have excused quarterback Baker Mayfield from mandatory minicamp.
The move makes sense for both Cleveland and especially Mayfield, who’s been expecting to move on from the team for quite some time now.
It also seems like the Browns are hoping for the trade market to heat back up for the 27-year-old.
However, Mayfield’s status will remain unclear until the NFL makes a decision on Deshaun Watson with the bombshell of reports swirling around his cases.
The Seattle Seahawks have been noted to be the best landing destination for Mayfield, but we’ll have to wait and see how things wrap up before training camp.
In late April, Cleveland exercised an $18,858,000 option for Mayfield for the 2022 season.
