Jaire Alexander signs record four-year, $84M extension

USA Today

The Green Bay Packers signed cornerback Jaire Alexander to a four-year, $84 million contract extension.

The deal includes a $30 million signing bonus, which is a record for cornerbacks in the NFL.

Alexander played in just four games in 2021 due to a shoulder injury, but in March it was reported that he had high salary expectations entering this offseason.

Although Green Bay was without the 25-year-old for most of last season,  Pro Football Focus graded the Packers defense as the eighth best coverage unit in the NFL.

The Packers defense is set for next season, but it’s unclear how the offense will look with the departure of Davante Adams.
