Steven Matz has been set to start for the Cardinals on Thursday against the Orioles.
Matz has been unexpectedly bumped up to start Thursday afternoon in place of Jordan Hicks, who was originally scheduled to start today.
It’s unclear whether Hicks has been scratched due to injury or illness, but there should be an update on his status soon.
Matz has jumped out to a 3-2 start with his new team this season, and he’s posted a high 7.01 ERA with 30 strikeouts is 25.2 innings pitched.
