Saints sign safety Tyrann Mathieu

USA Today

The New Orleans Saints signed free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu to an undisclosed contract on Monday.

At this time, contract details are unknown and the deal is unlikely to be made official until after 4:00 PM.

Mathieu spent his last three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was named as a First Team All-Pro twice and selected to two Pro-Bowls.

With the departure of both Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu, the Chiefs have big voids to fill on both offense and defense.

Mathieu turns 30 in the middle of this month, and he’ll add a huge presence to an already talented Saints secondary.

New Orleans ranked second in Pro Football Focus’ coverage grades in 2021, and Mathieu can only help maintain that level of play for the foreseeable future.
