Kansas City Royals rookie infielder Bobby Witt Jr. is returning to the lineup Monday after missing Sunday’s contest with the New York Yankees.
Witt was sidelined Sunday after suffering a right wrist contusion after being hit by a pitch on Saturday.
The 21-year-old will bat seventh Monday afternoon and start at third base.
Witt is carrying a nine-game hitting streak into today’s matchup with the Cardinals who are starting lefty Steven Matz on the mound.
The rookie is hitting .216/.247/.311 for six runs and five RBI in 77 plate appearances so far in 2022.
