St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told Adam Wainwright that he’ll be the team’s starter on Opening Day.
With ace Jack Flaherty sidelined due to a shoulder issue, Wainwright gets the nod to begin the season against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 40-year-old reliable veteran posted an impressive 3.05 ERA last season with a 17-7 record.
Wainwright also had a 1.06 WHIP and 174/50 K/BB ratio across 206 1/3 innings.
Fantasy baseball managers could benefit from Wainwright in the upcoming season, especially with Flaherty out.
