USA Today

According to RealGM, New Orleans Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson may need a second surgery on his right foot.

Williamson was originally supposed to return to the court this season, but that’s in doubt due to his ailing foot injury.

The 21-year-old was reported to be practicing in Portland in late January, but it seems he may have suffered a setback along the process.

Williamson spoke on the issue that date:

“As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult process for me. I know there’s work to be done in my recovery before I can safely return to the court, but I will continue to put in the time necessary so I can get back on the floor with my team and represent Pelicans fans and the city of New Orleans at the highest level.”

Pelicans Executive Vice President David Griffin said Williamson will have another round of medical imaging done on his right foot either this week or next week.
