37-year-old first/third baseman Ryan Zimmerman has announced he’s retiring from professional baseball.
Zimmerman spent his entire career (17 years) as a member of the Washington Nationals, and he was drafted in 2005 out of the University of Virginia.
Zimmerman was a two-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Golden Glove Award winner, and won the 2011 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award.
He played in 1,799 career games posting 284 home runs and 1.061 RBI.
Zimmerman made $140,892,000 in MLB contracts throughout his career.
