Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D’Angelo Russell will miss four to six weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
Russell is undergoing an arthroscopic procedure to remove loose bodies in his left knee.
Bad news for the 24-year-old, who turns 25 on February 23.
Russell was a big part of the Wolves offense, averaging 19.3 points and 5.1 assists across 20 games.
Minnesota currently has the worst record in the league (7-20), and losing Russell is an even bigger blow to this season.
Ricky Rubio will likely continue to start in his absence moving forward with Jordan McLaughlin backing him up.
