ESPN has reported that the Arizona Cardinals are unlikely to re-sign 31-year-old cornerback Patrick Peterson.

Peterson played all 16 games for Arizona in 2020, and he recorded 61 tackles, eight passes defended, and three interceptions.

2020 was the final year of his five-year, $70,050,000 contract where he was paid $13,184,588 before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

The Cardinals look like they’re going younger as the team builds around quarterback Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.

Peterson was Pro Football Focus’ number 90 rated cornerback last season out of 136 qualifiers.

He’ll likely look to sign with a contender in his final years playing on a football field.
