The San Diego Padres have promoted A.J. Preller to president of baseball operations/general manager.

The organization has also signed him to an extension through 2026.

Financial details of the arrangement have not been disclosed.

Preller took over as executive vice president/general manager during the 2014 season.

San Diego is coming off their first postseason appearance since 2006, and they’ve made a handful of moves this offseason to boost their roster.

The Padres went out in December to acquire ace starting pitcher Blake Snell, and picked up pitcher Joe Musgrove from Pittsburgh last month while adding Jurickson Profar to the lineup as well.
