Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard is planning to test free agency at the end of the 2020-21 NBA season.

Leonard has a player option for the 2021-22 season on his current contract worth $36 million.

Kawhi commented during a recent interview with the media:

“I’m just focused on this season. If I stay healthy, the best decision is to decline the player option, but it doesn’t mean I’m staying or leaving.”

Leonard went on speaking on the team expectations this season:

“I don’t see anyone pretty much focused on themselves. Everyone trying to buy in on the team concepts. We want to make an emphasis of everybody being a winner in their role.”

Leonard is coming off a decent first season with the Clippers, finishing 2nd in the western conference with a 49-23 record before taking a tumble losing to the Nuggets in the playoffs after being up 3-1 in the series.

In 57 games played last regular season, Leonard averaged 27.1 points 7.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.
