The Kansas City Royals have officially signed first baseman Carlos Santana to a 2-year, $17 million contract.
Santana will earn a $7 million salary in 2021 and $10.5 million in 2022, including another $1 million available to him in the form of performance-based incentives.
The 34-year-old posted a low career low .199 batting average with eight home runs and 30 RBI in 255 plate appearances last season,
If Santana can pick his game back up, he’ll fit nicely into a Royals lineup and give them some needed batting power.
