USA Today Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles are benching quarterback Carson Wentz this week against the Saints.

Rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts will start in his place.

Wentz has been beyond terrible this season.

He’s leading the league in interceptions (15) and sacks (50) for a total of 326 yards.

Wentz also has an awful 49.2 QB rating and has completed just 57.4% of his passes.

The Eagles made a terrible decision signing him to a 4-year, $128 million contract extension the year after he came off a torn ACL, and now they’re stuck with him for the foreseeable future.

Wentz and his agents Ryan Tollner, Bruce Tollner, and Chase Callahan of Rep 1 Sports and jumping for joy as his mega contract kicks in next season.

The 27-year-old is guaranteed $59.2 million if 2021 if he’s not on the Eagles roster, and an additional $24.5 million in 2022.
