Rockets hire Stephen Silas as their next head coach

USA Today Sports

The Houston Rockets have hired Stephen Silas as the franchise’s next head coach.

Silas most recently was on the Dallas Mavericks staff as an assistant to head coach Rick Carlisle.

Multiple sources confirm that Houston was sold on Silas’ offensive ingenuity, and he beat out Jeff Van Gundy and John Lucas to earn the position.

Silas has worked with a number of star guards including Luka Doncic, Kemba Walker, and Steph Curry, so it’ll be interesting to see how he works with Russell Westbrook and James Harden.

If the Rockets are officially done with the small ball experiment, Silas should require the team to look for multiple bigs to man the 4 and 5 positions.
