Cam Newton will remain Patriots starting QB

USA Today Sports

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said he’s sticking with Cam Newton as the team’s starting quarterback.

Newton was terrible again against the 49ers on Sunday, throwing for 98 yards and three interceptions.

The Patriots took a 33-6 beating to San Francisco, and a 18-12 loss to a sub-par Broncos team week six.

Belichick benched Newton against the 49ers for Jarrett Stidham, but he stated that the move was to get the young QB more experience.

Newton has a quarterback rating of 71.7 so far in 2020, the 31st worst in the NFL.

However, he’s run for 244 yards and 5 touchdowns, which is essentially keeping him as the starter.
