The Tampa Bay Rays have signed starting pitcher Blake Snell to a 5-year, $50 million contract extension.
Snell was displeased earlier this month when Tampa committed just a $573,700 salary to him for 2019, but now the 2018 AL Cy Young Award winner earned a well-deserved payday.
The deal includes no club or player options, and doesn’t include a no-trade clause.
It’s the biggest extension ever given to a player after just two seasons of experience.
