The San Francisco Giants signed veteran relief pitcher Ken Giles to a minor league contract.
Giles decided to test the market after being designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners earlier this month.
The 31-year-old had appeared in just 4.1 innings with Seattle this season, and he’s played in just nine games over the last few years.
Giles will now report to San Francisco’s rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate before making a comeback to the majors.
He was most recently on a two-year, $7 million deal with Seattle signed in 2021.
