The Oakland A’s placed starting pitcher Paul Blackburn on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right middle finger.
Blackburn was scheduled to start this afternoon against the Angels, but clearly he’s not ready to go being placed on the injury list.
The 28-year-old had been struggling as of late, allowing 14 earned runs in two of his previous three starts.
It’s not clear yet how long Blackburn will be sidelined, but updates should be provided by the team ahead of this afternoon’s matchup.
Oakland is in the midst of a AL West series matchup with Los Angeles, but both teams are likely to miss the playoffs this season.
That being said, the A’s could opt to sideline Blackburn for the remainder of the 2022 season.
