Chiefs sign veteran DE Carlos Dunlap to a one-year deal

The Seattle Times

The Kansas City Chiefs signed 33-year-old veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap to a one-year contract worth up to $8 million.

Dunlap’s agent Drew Rosenhaus confirmed the new deal.

The 2x Pro-Bowler appeared in 17 games last season with the Seahawks, where he registered 8.5 sacks, 35 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 14 QB hits.

Dunlap had a visit with Kansas City Wednesday night, which seemingly went well enough to earn him a deal.

“It’s been a whirlwind trip,” Dunlap told Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.

“I met with coaches last night and started looking at film around midnight. It’s an exciting time for me and a long time coming.”

The Chiefs finished 19th in the league in rushing defense last season allowing 114 rushing yards per game, and their passing defense was even worse ranked 27th.
