Roquan Smith will not participate in training camp

Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith will not participate in training camp because of his contract situation.

Smith is owed $9,735,000 after Chicago exercised a player option for 2022, and after this season he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.

It’d be smart for Chicago to offer him some type of extension at some point either before the season, or in the beginning of the season.

Smith clogged the middle of the Bears’ defense in 2021, totaling 163 tackles, three sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and four QB hits.

At just 25-years-old, Smith has his prime years left in him to be a centerpiece for Chicago’s front seven.
