San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. is told reporters that he’s progressing towards a minor league rehab assignment soon.
Tatis took on-field batting practice over the weekend at Citi Field in New York before telling reporters that he expects to progress to facing live pitching later this week.
The 23-year-old has been out since mid-March after undergoing surgery to repair the scaphoid bone in his left wrist
In February last year, the young star signed a 14 year, $340,000,000 contract extension with San Diego.
Hopefully, Tatis Jr. can return in August and play a stretch down the remainder of the 2022 season.
