Russell Westbrook has exercised his $47.1 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday for the 2022-23 season.
It’s an easy choice for Westbrook, who’s on the final year of his five-year, $206,794,070 contract that he originally signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2017.
The Lakers are Westbrook’s third team across the last three seasons, and his statistics were at the lowest since the 2009-2010 season.
Westbrook, now 33-years-old, averaged a solid 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in his first season with LA.
It’s still unclear whether or not the Lakers try to move him to another team, and there’s still a full offseason ahead before next season.
