Starling Marte is out of the Mets’ starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Brewers after getting hit by a pitch Wednesday.
Although he was hit by a pitch on his hand, Marte told reporters that he expects to be right back in the starting lineup Friday against his former Miami Marlins ball club.
X-rays also came back negative on the injury, which is obviously positive news.
The 33-year-old has been off to a good start to his opening 2022 season with the Mets, slashing .284/.329/.446 for 39 runs scored, seven home runs, 34 RBI, and eight steals in 53 games.
Marte joined New York in November in 2021 on a four-year, $78 million guaranteed contract that included a $5 million signing bonus.
